End-of-Season Wrap Up

What an amazing season we had this year! We welcomed several new coaches (Rebekah, Kevin, Sarah P, Sarah S, Lewis, Riley, Will B, Annie, Alex) and were happy to welcome back our returning coaches (Mike, Liam, Idris, Sky, Jack, Will M, Delia, Margaret, Fiona, Chloe, and Avery). Our coaches all did such a great job and we want to thank them all for their hard work for our team and our kids. Their dedication, positive energy, love of this sport, and encouragement for every swimmer on the team truly set a wonderful example for our kids.

We said good-bye to 3 seniors: Sky Murphy, who will be swimming for Rollins College in Florida; Will Brevard, who will be swimming for California State University - Bakersfield; and Liam Bray, who will be attending the University of Arizona and competing on the triathlon team. Congratulations seniors!! Best of luck as you head off to college this fall!

I've attached a top times report, showing the top ten Cool Sharks times for each event (note that this report only goes back to 2006 when we started keeping electronic times - we do have older paper times for our team records). Many of our swimmers broke into the top ten this season and earned a spot in Cool Sharks history!

We had an amazing 5-0 record this season for the first time in many years (since I've been with the team at least) and then came back to DOMINATE at Championships, defending our title as the 2022 ASA Division 2 Champions! Overall it was a remarkable season after two unusual COVID seasons. Thank you for your patience as we worked through numerous unexpected facilities issues at the beginning of the season (a huge thanks to all the pool staff and dedicated board members who worked so hard to get our kids in the water!). We had lots of great parents who volunteered lots of hours, lots of great coaches who really worked hard with our kids, and most of all lots of great swimmers who improved their swimming and had great fun being part of our team. We hope you enjoyed this season as much as we did!

We raised over $2600 at our 3rd Annual Swim Across America Swim-a-thon! It was so great to see our Cool Sharks swimmers (and a few parents too!) swim laps to raise money for this wonderful organization!

Don't forget to check your ribbon boxes at the pool - there are still a lot of awards (incl. championship ribbons and medals, team award certificates, etc.) waiting to be picked up. There are also still a few team bags there (with caps and t-shirts) - remember every swimmer receives a team bag as part of your registration. We also have a large lost and found pile under the ribbon boxes, with books, t-shirts, shoes, goggles, towels, water bottles, etc. (lost-and-found stuff will be donated if not picked up by July 31st).

Finally, if you're not ready for swim season to be over and want to keep swimming, we have a great Fall Swim Team! This is a developmental team for swimmers ages 5-14 (based on age as of 9/1/2022). Practices begin August 1st and end September 8th, with an end-of-season meet on Saturday morning September 10th at 9:00 am. Fall season is a smaller, more laid-back version of summer season, and is perfect for younger swimmers and beginners, as well as non-year-round swimmers who want to extend their swimming season a little longer. See the Fall Swim Team tab on the coolsharks.org website (or click HERE) for more information. Registration opens July 15th at noon - this program is very popular and tends to sell out quickly so don't wait to register!

Go Cool Sharks! Hope to see you all next year! See the bottom of the page for next year's dates - mark your calendars! Please try to schedule camps, vacations, and other activities around our meets if you can (especially Championship week). July is the perfect time for beach trips and sleep-away camp :).
