Swim Across America
Since 2019, Garden Hills Pool has been supporting Swim Across America through our annual swim-a-thon, community donations, and swimmers who participate in the Atlanta Open Water Swim each year. Over those years we have raised almost $14,000 for this wonderful organization.
There are several ways you can get involved and support our efforts:
- Purchase Good Luck Ducks at our meets. For only a $3 donation, support your swimmer AND a great cause with a Good Luck Duck to wish them luck for the meet!
- Make a donation to Swim Across America on behalf of Team Garden Hills. Please go to our SAA team page (click HERE) and click "Donate Now" to donate directly. Or make a donation through our Cool Sharks Venmo (@coolsharksswimteam1) with "SAA donation" in the note. We truly appreciate donations of any amount!
- Participate in our annual Swim-a-Thon at Garden Hills Pool. This year's event will take place Sunday Aug 16th 5:30-7:00pm. All are welcome! You do not need to be a member of the pool or its teams, and the event is suitable for all ages and abilities (kickboards will be available). We have three levels of participation and prizes for everyone. Please sign up HERE.
- Participate in the annual Atlanta Open Water Swim as a member of Team Garden Hills. Join us at Lake Lanier on Saturday Sept 19th for a super fun and inspirational morning of swimming in a peaceful cove for a great cause! Meet Olympians as well as some of the cancer warriors for whom you are swimming. Chose between 3 distances (1/2-mile, mile, and 3 miles) and know that the water will be filled with an amazing group of volunteers on kayaks and paddleboards to keep you safe (you can even request to have an "angel swimmer" swim alongside you the entire way). The event is suitable everyone ages 8 and up - we have had swimmers as young as 9 years old on our team! Please go to our team page (click HERE) and click "Join Team to register.
For those of you unfamiliar with this organization, Swim Across America hosts open water swims and pool swims across the country each year to raise money for cancer research. Since 2013, the Atlanta Open Water Swim (which takes place every September at Lake Lanier) has raised over $3.9 million for our beneficiary: Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Hope you can join us as we Make Waves to Fight Cancer!
